2.1 Introduction

This standard defines a uniform way to for Metadata Providers (including Release Creators) to communicate rich information about Works, Resources, Releases and Parties (such as writers, recording artists, studio personnel, labels and others) to Release Distributors and other companies.

This first version of the Media Enrichment and Description standard focuses on the communication of such information from record companies to Release Distributors in a "feed" accompanying the communication of Release notifications using the ERN standard as well as bulk metadata feeds from metadata providers.
